School Asthma Initiative (SAI)
Breathe Pennsylvania’s School Asthma Initiative (SAI) is an asthma education program that provides training, direct services, advocacy, school and community-based education, and intervention services in our ten-county service area to promote a healthy life for all children diagnosed with asthma.
The SAI program serves four distinct groups, including training for:
- Parents/Caregivers of children with asthma
- School personnel, including school nurses and students with asthma
- Early learning practitioners
- Professional student training, including student nurses and student respiratory therapists

SAI is currently implemented in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
